After losing her bronze medal in the individual floor exercise final, American gymnast Jordan Chiles has been the subject of intense controversy, but fans haven’t heard much from her.
Chiles took a social media hiatus on purpose to avoid the spotlight, which has left fans with more questions than answers about her current situation.
After a successful judges appeal, Chiles’ final score in the floor final was initially increased; however, this decision was eventually overturned when it was determined that the appeal was invalid. After falling all the way from third place to fifth, Chiles was forced to give up her bronze medal in favor of Romanian gymnast Ana Barbosu, who is now officially acknowledged as the competition’s legitimate third place finisher.
Even with this unexpected development, Chiles is still scheduled to participate in the Simon Biles-led Gold Over America Tour. Also referred to as the GOAT Tour, the 30-city event will take place in September and November. The amazing journeys of Biles, Chiles, and the rest of the US gymnastics team are the focus of the tour and concert.
Biles recently reaffirmed that Chiles will remain in the lineup, something that Jordan’s mother Gina Chiles also seems to have affirmed. A fan’s desire to “lose my voice cheering for [Jordan] at the GOAT tour” was highlighted in an Instagram post published by Inside Gymnastics Magazine, which Gina shared on Monday.
Although Gina technically did not announce anything here, this is as close to an official confirmation as fans will get regarding Jordan’s big plan following her Olympic controversy.
Chiles still has a gold from the team all-around final even though her bronze was cruelly taken away from her. Furthermore, the 23-year-old is unquestionably still the big winner in the eyes and hearts of American fans, and they will have the opportunity to show her this when the eagerly awaited Gold Across America Tour begins.
