PGA Tour announce suspension of two players for breaking rules

Vince India and Jake Staiano, two members of the Korn Ferry Tour, have been suspended from participating in PGA Tour events for violating the tour’s betting policies.

Vince India and Jake Staiano, two stars on the Korn Ferry Tour, have been suspended by the PGA Tour for breaking betting regulations.

The PGA Tour declared that two players had been suspended for breaking the Integrity Program. It was discovered that the players, who were identified as Staiano and India, had wagered on PGA Tour events.

The PGA Tour Integrity Program was updated in September 2021 with the goal of “preventing and mitigating betting-related corruption in PGA Tour competitions.” The program is applicable to “all tours owned and/or operated by PGA Tour, Inc. (the “PGA Tour”) anywhere in the world,” according to the official guidelines.

Therefore, it makes sense that Staiano and India, who are not permitted to compete on the PGA Tour, were prohibited for breaking the rules by placing bets on the tour’s events. The two broke the rules even though they didn’t wager on the competitions they participated in.

India is suspended from PGA Tour competitions for six months, with his suspension starting on 18 September 2023 and running through 17 March 2024. Staiano received a three-month suspension, which began on 11 September 2023 and is set to run through 10 December 2023.

Their suspension was announced in a statement on Friday. Tour officials did not provide any further details about the violations of the PGA Tour Integrity Program.

India – who is currently ranked No. 936 in the world – attended the University of Iowa and turned professional in 2011. The 34-year-old made 21 starts on the Korn Ferry Tour this season, and his best finish was a T21 at the NV5 Invitational bac in July.

The American, whose career earnings total $569,844, has been a full-time member of the Korn Ferry Tour since 2019. Despite making half of the cuts this season, he didn’t place in the top 10 in his 22 starts, despite having eight top-10 finishes from 2019 to 23. In his three PGA Tour starts, he has failed to make the cut.

Staiano, meanwhile, completed his college career at Colorado State before turning pro in 2019. After making six cuts during his two seasons on the Korn Ferry Tour, the 26-year-old earned $30,910. In 2023, Stainao made eight starts and once finished in the top 25.
