Max Verstappen opens door to replacing Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes

Lewis Hamilton might be replaced at Mercedes by Max Verstappen.

The strongest indication yet that Max Verstappen might leave Red Bull has been revealed. There is a lot of discontent in the Austrian team’s camp as Verstappen’s father, Jos, has demanded that Christian Horner be fired.

Given Horner’s current status, it’s possible that Verstappen and Helmut Marko will leave. Lewis Hamilton has decided to join Ferrari, which means Mercedes will have a vacancy starting in 2025.

Verstappen has not ruled out leaving Red Bull, and he is expected to join the Silver Arrows. In his words, “I don’t think it matters that no one would have ever realized that Lewis could have moved to Ferrari in my life. That has nothing to do with Formula One, or anything? That’s just life in general.

You never know what’s going to happen to you, what’s going on around you, or what might have an impact on you. Therefore, you can never be certain that something will always be that way. And that’s how I go about living my life, though I also try not to think about it too much. I’m at ease right now. As I previously stated, I’m thrilled with the team.

Verstappen isn’t in a desperate attempt to leave Red Bull after winning three straight world championships. He plans to fulfill his contract, which is set to expire in 2028. But if his performance ever starts to suffer, he might try to find a different seat.

“That has, of course, always been the intention of signing,” the Dutchman continued. We signed for this very long in order to be here. Of course, there is also the issue of the vehicle’s performance, which starting in 2026 is a bit

“However, I signed my contract knowing that they had helped me in my career as well, right? Thus, since I truly enjoy being a part of this team, my intention is to stay with them.

“And I’m also really happy within the team. So as long as we perform there is no reason also to leave.”
