Jon Rahm pelted by golf fans over latest Liv Golf claim: “This is poetic”

The LIV man, Jon Rahm, came under fire when he said that the major tours could have done more to promote golf in Australia.

According to Jon Rahm, the major tours “should have done more” to promote golf in Australia.

In an interview with Australian Golf Digest prior to the breakaway’s Adelaide event, the Spaniard made the assertion.

Rahm will be making his debut after a disappointing showing at the 2024 Masters.

The 29-year-old, the reigning champion, barely survived the cut but had no impact.

More people were drawn to his remarks made off the course at the year’s first major than to his play.

He began by admitting that he was blanked at Augusta National by a few PGA Tour pros.

However, some golfers chastised him for speaking out against the tournament’s organizers.

When the second round of winds in Georgia started to gust at 30-35 mph, Rahm said he “wasn’t sure why we were out there.”

The golfer also chastised the other competitors for their tempo of play.

Rahm will definitely get more notice for his most recent ideas about introducing golf to Australia.

Rahm feels that the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour could have done a better job, in his opinion.

Without a doubt, one of the breakaway’s most well-liked events in 2023 was LIV Golf Adelaide.

When asked if the world tours had overlooked Australia, Rahm responded to AGD with:

“Saying “yes” is simple, but you must also realize that traveling to Australia isn’t the simplest thing in the world.

However, I believe that more could have been done.

“I do recall watching the Australian Open, Australian Masters, and Australian PGA as a child; they were three major competitions that drew the top players.

It was simply not a part of what players did when I went pro. I am aware that Gary Player has won seven Australian Opens, while Jack Nicklaus has won six.

“I’m happy to be a part of playing golf in Australia; it’s something that’s etched in history.”

Many golf enthusiasts on X responded quickly to Rahm’s most recent remarks.

Rahm was criticized for never having chosen to tee it up in the incidents he mentioned.

Years before he became well-known, in 2016, he participated in the World Cup in Australia for the last time.

“Yeah he loves the Australian Open so much… how many has he played in?” a user on X commented.

Another said: “I’m laughing so hard at this. It only required billions of other people’s money, and players have a contractual duty to attend.”

The person who said, “This is poetic,” twisted the knife. To what extent has Rahm performed in Australia?

Despite not having won on LIV, Rahm is currently ranked second in the 2024 rankings following five events.

The Grange Golf Club will host the 26th and 27th April LIV Golf Adelaide.
