For a number of years, Mercedes’ team has not produced good results. Despite this, the team didn’t seem to be having any issues with the others. Up until it was announced that Lewis Hamilton would be joining Ferrari in 2025. This leads to needless hurry, claims Toto Wolff.
Everyone knows by now that Lewis Hamilton will be a driver at Ferrari starting in 2025. Just who will take over for the seven-time world champion at Mercedes is still unknown. This is still a question for Toto Wolff, the team principal, as well as the whole Formula One community.
Toto Wolff must look for replacement Lewis Hamilton
Wolff has previously made it clear that he wants to take his time deciding who should take Mercedes’ open seat. But it’s evident that many drivers are vying for this seat, and they want it badly. Numerous names have been floated as potential replacements for the 39-year-old British citizen. Wolff confirms that he is not in a rush during a media event in Bahrain with GPblog and other guests, but he also says something noteworthy. I’m not in a rush to select a driver. Lewis has been hurrying me along. I’ll therefore just relax and stand about while I assess the market.
A driver who is highly associated with the vacant seat at Mercedes is Andrea Kimi Antonelli, a rookie in Formula Two. In Formula 2, he hasn’t been very good thus far. This is partially due to the fact that this year’s team car is slower than typical. This disappoints Wolff as well. Yes, the Formula 2 championship-winning teams, 17 and 18. That is absolutely not where they ought to be. You can, in my opinion, look down on your teammates. I believe we have already made this comparison with the best drivers. However, that’s positive. Like I’ve always said, I believe I may have talked him up a bit too much. We’ll watch how the upcoming races turn out.
