Bernie Ecclestone and Max Verstappen’s Family Play a Part in Christian Horner Scandal

With his upcoming hearing regarding misbehavior charges, Christian Horner is still making headlines. On Friday, there will be an independent hearing on the matter, which started with an internal investigation. According to a recent report from Motorsport-Total, there is a strong possibility that Max Verstappen’s father and Bernie Ecclestone were involved in the entire incident.

Despite the parties’ best efforts to maintain the privacy of all information, some details managed to get out. There were attempts at a private resolution. To preserve face, Horner did this by formally resigning from his job and acknowledging the accusations.

The Briton has hired attorneys to represent him, though, and he still refutes all accusations. Given their close personal relationship, Horner is reportedly supported by former F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone. Ecclestone is reportedly attempting to calm Horner down and request his resignation, but the 50-year-old is unyielding.

Jos Verstappen is purportedly on the opposite corner in the meantime. The fact that the De Telegraaf was the first to report on Horner’s actions is indicative of the same. The relationship between Jos and Horner is not ideal, as the report also made clear.

Horner declared, “I categorically deny these allegations,” in response to the report, but he is still very much in the middle of a shitstorm.

Strained relationship between Jos Verstappen and Christian Horner pulling the strings?

There are rumors circulating in the Formula One paddock that Verstappen Sr. and Horner are not getting along. Due to differing personal beliefs, the two appear to be at a crossroads in their relationship. Although Max Verstappen is included, it is well known that he supports Helmut Marko and his father. Few are speaking up in favor of the British boss, Horner, considering that the three-time world champion may oppose him.

Nevertheless, the Verstappen family’s role in the leak is not supported by any hard data. The theory’s foundation, the Dutch connection, is the only missing component.

Red Bull is especially troubled by the incident’s timing because they are only a few days away from revealing their 2024 vehicle. Moreover, identifying a long-term team leader will be another worry for the Austrian squad with less than a month until the season starts.
