Hamilton said Mercedes was “trying to win more world championships” and that “unfinished business will get us back to the top”.

After announcing Lewis Hamilton would stay at Mercedes for at least two more years, the British driver was asked about his and Mercedes’ goals for 2024 and 2025.

“Yes, the goal is simple,” he said.

“Setting goals is simple. Achieving this goal sucks. But for this to happen, we will all have to come together.

“I think every team here and every rider worked very hard to master the aerodynamic package that they have and their team and bring everyone together.

“And letting everyone reach their full potential is not easy for a large team. Therefore, this requires constant work.

“And from a driver’s standpoint, you know, you just have to make sure you’re performing well every weekend. “Even though I have been riding and racing for many years, I still feel like I can get better every weekend.

“And I think that’s what I love about this sport:
You will never achieve perfection, but the pursuit of perfection is one of the most exciting things about what we do.

Following the announcement of Lewis’ new contract, the Englishman said there was still “unfinished business” to deal with. When asked what this activity was, Lewis explained:

“Well, we are trying to win more world championships and I think yes, unfinished business will get us back to the top, which is to come back and fight for the enemy of the championship world enemy.

“We are the most successful team in history and have had the most successful run in the last 10 years, but last year was a challenge.

“So I think yes, it brings us back to where we belong and where we are operating on all those cylinders, just like you see Red Bull doing,” Hamilton concluded.
