With just four days remaining in the Italian Open, top names like Jannik Sinner and Coco Gauff are set to take center stage on Thursday. On Wednesday, tournament favorite Aryna Sabalenka was knocked out by Qinwen Zheng, while Alexander Zverev fell to Italian crowd favorite Lorenzo Musetti.
Sinner, returning to action for the first time since serving a three-month suspension for a doping violation, will face sixth seed Casper Ruud for a spot in the semi-finals. He’s positioned on the opposite side of the draw from Carlos Alcaraz, setting up the potential for a showdown in the final after Alcaraz beat Jack Draper in his latest match.
Gauff remains the highest-seeded player in the women’s field. After dominant wins over Emma Raducanu and Mirra Andreeva, she now prepares to face Zheng, with the winner advancing to face either Jasmine Paolini or Peyton Stearns in the final.
Sinner Withdraws from Hamburg Open
Jannik Sinner has officially pulled out of the Hamburg Open, set to begin Monday, following his deep run in Rome, where he is set to face Carlos Alcaraz in the final. Holger Rune has also opted out of Hamburg and will head straight to Paris to prepare for the French Open, which starts on May 25.
Coco Gauff Teases Her Dad
