Tyrrell Hatton was questioned by tournament officials after hitting his ball into a tee box marker during the third round of the Dubai Desert Classic.
Tyrrell Hatton hit a desperation double tee box marker on the par-three seventh hole to claim the inaugural Dubai Desert Classic title. The 33-year-old Hatton shot a strong third-round score of 68 to finish one stroke ahead of New Zealand leader Daniel Hillier (70).
The fiery Englishman started his round with plenty of energy, rounding the green on the par-four second hole and sinking a 12-foot putt for eagle. He bogeyed the par-3 fourth hole, but bounced back quickly with a birdie on the par-4 sixth.
One hole later, on the next hole, the par-3 seventh, Hatton landed his ball right in the middle of the green, hitting the tee box marker not once but twice. “He destroyed one of the tee markers,” Sky Sports golf commentator Laura Davis said from the commentary booth.
“Another group is coming up.”
Sky Sports golf commentator David Howell added: “Give me $5,000.”
Hatton was two strokes away from par.
He then made consecutive bogeys on the eighth and ninth holes, but made up for those mistakes on the tenth and eleventh holes. Later, Hatton went to a bird on the 16th and 18th, won the 68th round, and launched a solo from the twelfth second time.
Later, after the seventh T -shirt action, after the tour, he was asked a tournament manager in the marker cabin. Asked by reporters why he scored the goal, Hutton replied: “I was just a bit disappointed.” »
He added: “I probably shouldn’t have done it.” Does that make me a bad person? No. It was just a spontaneous act and it happened. I can’t go back and change it, so move on. “I heard this while marking and there is nothing wrong with what was said. I know it’s not right, but in the heat of the moment you are frustrated, you probably want to do what you don’t.
\ “I don’t intend to get in the way during the rest of the day. If it’s the worst thing I do as a human, it’s not so bad.”
Haton is looking for the eighth title of the DP World Tour and the first victory in Dubai Dessert Classic. The LIV Golf star is currently ranked third in the European Ryder Cup rankings.
Hatton made no secret of the fact that he intends to automatically secure a top-six finish, despite not being able to score valuable points in every LIV Golf League event. The Rider Cup European Star returned to the DP World Tour in September 2024, and the fines for last season have joined the fine.
Haton has not learned when he tries to play the team of Luke Donald’s European Rider Cup, when he hears his call.
