Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton left Formula One fans perplexed with a mysterious radio message at the conclusion of the 2024 Brazilian Grand Prix on Sunday. The seven-time world champion’s weekend at the legendary Interlagos track was forgettable because he finished P11 in the Sprint Shootout and was unable to reach SQ3.

The British driver finished P11 behind Williams F1 driver Alex Albon, unable to make any headway in the Sprint Race. However, things took a turn for the 104-time pole-sitter in Sunday morning’s qualifying, as he was unable to advance past the first qualifying round.

In the main race, Lewis Hamilton’s suffering was exacerbated when he was unable to advance in the rainy conditions and finished with just one point after a wild race. The Mercedes driver on his team radio stated in his final in-lap:

“Guys, that weekend was a complete disaster. The car is at its worst point ever. However, I want to thank you for keeping up your efforts to provide excellent service to all of the guys at the pitstop. It’s unfortunate that it wasn’t very good, but I’m thankful for you if this is my last opportunity to perform.”

Following Lewis Hamilton’s remarks on his radio message on X, Formula One fans reacted on social media. One fan wrote:

“My goat is talking about what the f**k?”

“I believe he’s saying that the cars prevent him from performing as he would like.”

“I suppose the remainder of the season may see guest drivers.”

One fan remarked, “It’s sad to see him so deflated in that car.”

Another person said, “I still don’t understand what you mean when you say “last time” if there are still three races left.”

“I just understood what he said and meant with that radio: “To all the guys at the pit stops, it’s a shame it wasn’t great…ecc ecc if this is their last time that they get to perform (because of the rotation due to many races throughout the year).” Another said, “I hope I helped with it.”

Lewis Hamilton analyzes his Brazilian GP performance on Sunday
Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton said they were “just slow” all weekend and that he had no grip in the rainy conditions at the Brazilian Grand Prix on Sunday.

According to the 39-year-old, who spoke with Sky Sports:

“We simply moved slowly. The vehicle was extremely difficult. At least one car was acting much better, and the team had a chance to win today as well. It resembles a piece of wood. As if there were no suspension. You can’t get on the power anywhere, and it’s bouncing on the tires everywhere.

“It’s simply the worst ride—especially around corners—that I believe we’ve ever experienced. It’s simply very rigid. Hopefully, though, there won’t be any more rough patches. The last three, in my opinion, aren’t as rough. However, I would be more than happy to go and take a vacation.

With three races and one Sprint left in the 2024 season, Lewis Hamilton is currently two points behind his teammate George Russell in the driver’s championship standings at P7 with 190 points.
