Max Verstappen slams fake F1 fans in nasty reaction following Red Bull crisis in Singapore

Verstappen’s 10-match winning streak ended in Singapore while Red Bull also lost its unblemished winning record in 2023, as Carlos Sainz won for Ferrari.

Max Verstappen has claimed that those complaining about Red Bull’s dominance this season before their winning streak ended are “not real fans”.

Red Bull were on track to become the first team to win every race in a Formula 1 season. However, their hopes of achieving this extraordinary target were dashed last weekend when they subject to terrible Grand Singapore prices, by their own standards.

Yet Red Bull and Verstappen are still having incredible seasons. The team can wrap up their constructors’ championship this weekend with victory in Japan this weekend, provided they overtake Mercedes in the process. Verstappen is hoping to return to winning ways after finishing fifth from 11th on the grid in Singapore. He didn’t show too much emotion after a difficult weekend in Singapore, but he insisted it wasn’t because he thought a battle for victory between his F1 rivals would be better for spectators.

“To be honest, I have absolutely no interest in it,” he told reporters in Suzuka on Thursday. “For me, it’s clear that we were defeated. I don’t think anything good for Formula 1.” I don’t think what’s happening with Formula 1 is bad, because we are better than everyone.

“If people can’t appreciate that then you’re not a real fan. But that’s the way it is. That’s why I’m very relaxed about it too, because we I didn’t play and everyone else played better.” work than us. And of course, they deserved to win. They shouldn’t win because people say it’s boring for us to win.”

Pressing further on his feelings after his own record winning streak ended, he replied:
“I have no emotions. That’s right, we stopped winning a race. Bad things happened! Before that, we won 10 matches in a row.

“So, of course, I want to win there too. But I also know that there will always be a day when you finish this weekend where you don’t win or something goes wrong. And yes, unfortunately, it was that weekend. Let’s move on and try again.”

After a difficult weekend in Singapore, Red Bull confidently returned to its most competitive form in Japan. Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Perez said:
“This track is very different so there’s no reason why we won’t be strong at Suzuka. This will be one of the best tracks for us.”

“Obviously we had some good ideas [about] how we prepared for the weekend and the misinformation we had about why things went wrong. There are good signs that perhaps we went into the weekend with the wrong ambient. [In the simulator], it was very good [in Suzuka] and it was very bad in Singapore. So I hope it goes well and can be a good clue for us. »
