“We have a commissioner who is a chicken s***!” PGA Tour winner slams Jay Monahan

Three-time major champion Jordan Spieth and PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan are the targets of PGA Tour player Nate Lashley’s criticism.

PGA Tour player Nate Lashley called Jordan Spieth “a chicken s” and called circuit commissioner Jay Monahan “a chicken s” after an amazing interview with Golfweek.

Lashley, 41, won the 2019 Rocket Mortgage Classic, making him a one-time PGA Tour winner.

Despite missing nine cuts so far this season, he did manage a respectable T3 at the Farmers Insurance Open at the end of January.

Consequently, Lashley finds himself on the outside looking in for the lucrative $20 million signature events and 90th in the FedEx Cup points race for the entire season.

Lashley seemed to vent his frustration at commissioner Monahan over the current scheduling arrangement, since he will not be able to participate in any of the PGA Tour’s marquee events this season.

CHICKEN SH!T — At last weeks RBC Canadian Open, World #125 Nate Lashley called out PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan and is unhappy with signature events: “Our No. 1 event is the Players and it’s a 144-man field. If that’s the best field all year, then why are these… pic.twitter.com/7QyiYkxi2b

In making his point, Lashley intended to emphasize the significance of the ‘flagship’ Players Championship at the illustrious TPC Sawgrass, where he finished T13 in March.

“The Players, our top event, features a field of 144 players. Why are these signature events, which are supposed to be so good, only 70 (man fields) if that’s the best field of the year? “It is illogical,” Lashley stated to Golfweek.

“Take a look at the Players’ performance this season. Things remain more confined and tight when there is greater competition. It spreads things out to have fields with no cuts.

“But that’s what happens; we have a commissioner who is a chicken shit and won’t stand up to a few guys.” It’s not fair to compare placing in the top 10 of a restricted field to a 144- or 156-man field. It isn’t even near. There’s no way to compare. This is far more difficult.”

Lashley’s criticism of Monahan follows closely on the heels of Xander Schauffele’s divisive remarks made last week prior to the Memorial.

Not for the first time, the US PGA champion let loose on the PGA Tour boss.

Though he acknowledges that the Player Advisory Council (PAC) won’t be of much assistance to him, Lashley believes that change is necessary on the PGA Tour going forward.

Not for the first time, either, as at the end of 2023 he took aim at the leadership of the PGA Tour.

After six months, Lashley remains unimpressed.

Now he’s going after Jordan Spieth, one of the player directors on the policy board.

“The PAC is inactive,” a displeased Lashley stated to Golfweek.

We currently have a small number of player advisers, but two or three of them are elite players who are abusing their power to pressure the Tour.

It’s awful; they only represent themselves and not the rest of the Tour.

Jordan Spieth refused to even provide us with an honest response when we were on the phone with him. Jordan said something like, “You know the points are wrong.” That’s what the analytics indicate, he said. He was instructed to say that, or he was trained to do so.”

Paige Spiranac, a social media sensation, publicly criticized Lashley last year for making “sexist remarks.”
