Last week, Rory McIlroy filed for divorce from his longtime partner Erica Stoll.
Rumors of a romance between Rory McIlroy and Amanda Balionis, a CBS golf reporter, have surfaced. Balionis has been spotted on social media without her wedding ring. Before last week’s PGA Championship, McIlroy filed for divorce from his ex-partner, Erica Stoll.
The Daily Mail claims that the apparent chemistry between Balionis and McIlroy is “the talk of the links” after the two had a flirtatious interview at the Wells Fargo Championship earlier this month.
The day following the interview, McIlroy filed for divorce from Stoll, ending their seven-year marriage. When the two first got together in 2012, Stoll was a PGA transport official at the Ryder Cup.
Since 2022, Balionis has been wed to Bryn Renner, a former quarterback for the University of North Carolina. Even though they are not known to be split up, rumors about their separation have been stoked by her recent appearances without her wedding ring.
The well-known reporter recently changed her name from Balionis Renner to Bailionis on X, formerly Twitter, which fanned them even more.
McIlroy appeared in a promotional video for Puppies & Golf, Balionis’ nonprofit initiative, back in April. But last week, at the location of his most recent victory in Valhalla, it was all business as the Northern Irishman tried to win his first major title in ten years.
Despite announcing that he would not be discussing matters pertaining to his personal life, the four-time major winner made it clear that he was “ready to play” during his pre-tournament press conference.
McIlroy finished 12 under par, tied for 12th place, and nine shots behind the winner, Xander Schauffele, with a respectable but unspectacular round of play. “I played decently over the weekend, and I obviously started the week well,” he remarked.
“In general, I’m playing well, my game is sound, and I have a week off before a busy stretch of games. Here, I’ve been playing a lot of golf. In the last seven weeks, this was probably my sixth event.
“I’m playing four straight games after taking a week off. I’m confident in my performance. Particularly following the victory in New Orleans, I feel like things are starting to come together more. Of course, I had a good game in Charlotte last week. I’m here for a week to try to regroup and get back on track.”
