Golf LIV star’s wife says she would ‘absolutely love’ Rory McIlroy being ‘punched in the face’

Rory McIlroy has been a vocal critic at LIV Golf, and LIV star Pat Perez’s wife Ashley brutally responded to the PGA Tour star after last week’s heated Ryder Cup.

Ashley Perez, wife of LIV Golf star Pat Perez, took aim at Rory McIlroy after the Northern Irishman clashed with members of the US Ryder Cup team in Rome last week.

McIlroy is one of LIV Golf’s biggest critics, and it seems Perez’s partner Ashley has similar views towards the Northern Irishman. On Instagram, she frankly wrote:
“I can’t be the only one who enjoys seeing Rory get punched in the face.

“I mean that in the best possible way…sort of.” Perez’s comments came after McIlroy was involved in a brawl with trainees Patrick Cantlay and Justin Thomas at Marco Simone last Saturday.

The four-time major champion partners Matt Fitzpatrick against Cantlay and Wyndham Clark on day two of the Ryder Cup. It was the Americans who had the upper hand in the four-ball clash, after Cantlay made a remarkable birdie putt on the 18th green.

Cantlay was at the center of controversy in Rome, after it was reported that the American player had caused a “split” within the Team USA camp. Sky Sports claim the former FedEx Cup champion was unhappy with the players not being paid and in protest decided not to wear caps.

Ironically, the entire American team celebrated Cantlay’s winning putt by taking off their hats and waving them in the air. One of the participants was his caddy Joe LaCava, but the bag carrier appeared to go too far in his celebration after directing his celebration in McIlroy’s direction. However, McIlroy was able to use his disappointment as motivation the next day, helping Europe win its seventh consecutive Ryder Cup on home soil, winning Sunday’s singles match against the star American Sam Burns.
