In 2021, when Verstappen was two points behind Lewis Hamilton in the Drivers’ Championship, the Dutch driver showed off his carefree appearance to the media. Speaking about the pressure and expectations of being only 1 point away from a potential championship, Verstappen said he did not care about the result because it would have little impact on his personal life. For Jos Verstappen, it was his son’s carefree attitude that did not suit him.
Max Verstappen still not ‘perfect’ for his father
Just three points after the Sprint session in Qatar and Max Verstappen will be a three-time world champion, joining some of the greats like Ayrton Senna and Niki Lauda . After having a near-perfect season that saw him finish on the podium many times but one, F1 Maximaal reports that Jos Verstappen has problems with the way his son approaches the sport he earns a living from. which this son himself admitted.
Due to the lack of seriousness in his approach to racing in F1, Verstappen also revealed that his father is often more nervous than him, especially before a race. The tension was so high that Verstappen Sr. often thinks his son will become a truck driver if he doesn’t improve his attitude.
Verstappen once feared his son would soon drive a truck
