Christian Horner car launch decision made after Red Bull investigation update

The Red Bull team is still under the shadow of Christian Horner’s ongoing investigation into alleged misconduct as they prepare for Thursday’s launch.

According to new reports, Christian Horner plans to attend the RB20 launch on February 15. The Red Bull team principal is the subject of an ongoing investigation into claims of misconduct; however, the report on the matter is still “weeks away” from completion.

Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez had their first experiences in the RB20 during the team’s Tuesday shakedown at Silverstone, according to a report from the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf. Horner was also present.

Since news of the investigation broke earlier this month, there has been much speculation about the team principal’s attendance at both the Silverstone shakedown and the car launch at the Milton Keynes factory. However, this most recent update confirms that Horner is expected to attend the big reveal on February 15.

The 50-year-old Horner was questioned during a hearing on Friday with the relevant Red Bull staff regarding the accusations, which originated from a single female team member and are thought to be connected to his assertive management style. He has vehemently refuted every accusation.

But, this hearing was not a straightforward matter, and Horner’s future has not yet been decided. Rather, a final decision is still weeks away, per the report.

This is in line with the predictions made by Sky Sports News reporter Craig Slater, who stated that the decision will “operate to a timetable appropriate to get a clear and fair solution for both parties” following Friday’s hearing.

The Milton Keynes-based team’s goal of retaining both World Championship titles in 2024 will be hampered by the protracted nature of this investigation process.

With their performances in 2023, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez achieved the first-ever one-two Drivers’ Championship finish; however, this year’s field is anticipated to converge in what looks to be a more closely contested season.

The claims are apparently having an effect on Horner’s family as well; his wife Geri Halliwell is reportedly “devastated” by what has happened. She reportedly believes her husband is innocent, but Victoria Beckham, a former Spice Girls bandmate, has reportedly been encouraging her. This is according to OK!.

“They always got along well and have been there for each other through the difficult times,” a source close to Geri told the publication. Victoria encouraged and supported Geri during her turbulent relationship with some of the other Spice Girls. The situation is still the same: Victoria wants to help Geri in any way she can.

As a couple, Victoria and David have experienced some very dark times, and Geri has always supported Victoria through them. She will never forget how wonderful Geri was during the whole Rebecca Loos incident and how awful David’s treatment was following the World Cup. She wants to take care of and assist Geri now that she realizes this is her chance to be there for her.
