Christian Horner’s personal relationship with Max Verstappen’s father Jos Verstappen has reportedly taken a hit.
Red Bull team principal Horner has recently been accused of “inappropriate behavior.” Horner “completely denies” the allegations, which were first published by the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.
Since the team’s founding in Formula 1 back in 2005, the British driver has led the Milton Keynes-based team to seven drivers’ championships and six constructors’ titles.
As star driver Max Verstappen won a record-breaking third consecutive championship in 2023, Horner himself declared that the team’s dominant RB19 car was the “most successful car in F1 history.”
Verstappen is good friends with his father Jos, an eight-season Formula One racer who finished on the podium twice between 1994 and 2003.
Horner’s deteriorating Verstappen relationship
It’s now being said that Horner’s connection to the Verstappen family was “badly damaged” prior to the public release of these accusations against the fifty-year-old.
According to the Dutch website Motorsport Total.com, Horner might no longer be a part of Verstappen’s close-knit group of friends and family because the three-time world champion is fiercely devoted to them.
They have implied that the British national has not been on good terms with Verstappen senior for a while, and they have even suggested that it is “probably no coincidence” that Dutch media broke the story of the alleged “inappropriate behavior” first.
