Phil Mickelson and the rest of the HyFlyers GC team that he captains for Liv Golf recently released a video welcoming their new team member Andy Ogletree
Golf superstar Phil Mickelson and his HyFlyers GC crew have welcoming 25-year-old American golfer Andy Ogletree to their LIV Golf team.
In a video shared on social media, Mickelson and teammates Brendan Steele and Cameron Tringale all expressed their excitement about Ogletree joining them. Mickelson said: “Andy Ogletree, welcome to the HyFlyers. We are so excited to have you.”
“Andy, it’s going to be an awesome year,” Steele continued. We are eager to get going because you will be a huge asset to the team.” Mickelson finished with, “Let’s fly and go,” after Tringale yelled, “Let’s go, baby.”
Ogletree was previously praised by Mickelson, who said he was a perfect fit for the team. According to Mickelson, “Andy is one of the most impressive young players in the game and has earned his spot on LIV.”
“It was amazing to see how much work he has been putting in and how resilient he has been in building his own success this past year. In addition to elevating the HyFlyers to a competitive level for the upcoming season, Andy gets along well with every member of the group.”
After initially losing out on a spot in the lucrative series, Ogletree has now confirmed his participation in LIV Golf. After finishing tied for fifteenth at the Hong Kong Open, he was named the winner of the Asian Tour’s International Series, earning him a spot.
He took up one of the four available spots on the Saudi-backed circuit after Chase Koepka, Sihwan Kim, James Piot, and Jediah Morgan were demoted earlier this month. Having participated in the league’s inaugural event at the Centurion Club in St. Albans in June 2022, the 25-year-old is acquainted with LIV Golf.
Regretfully, the U.S. Amateur champion didn’t have a great week; he was eliminated from the roster for the remainder of the season after finishing last in the 48-man field. Ogletree recovered, though, by concentrating on the International Series this year.
The Georgia Tech alum has triumphed three times in the last year on the 10-event Asian Tour, taking home titles from Egypt, Qatar, and England. He was temporarily called up to LIV in the 2023 season due to his outstanding performance, and he participated in multiple events as an injury reserve.
The American golfer is eager to take on the challenge of earning a spot on the 2024 roster permanently. It’s fantastic! “Winning the Order of Merit excites me so much,” he declared. This year has required a great deal of hard work and excellent golf.”
“I just want to express my gratitude to everyone who has helped me get here, especially my home team for supporting me and the Asian Tour for all of their efforts. I’m ecstatic and eager to play LIV the following year.”
“Next year should be a great year, and I just can’t wait to get started,” Ogletree continued. “I’ll definitely play a few events on The International Series along with all the LIV events that I’m going to play.” Additionally, he disclosed earlier this week that, prior to his return, he had already communicated with a number of LIV teams.
