Lewis Hamilton rallied against Max Verstappen’s criticism of the Las Vegas Grand Prix and insisted all his Hollywood pals zeroed in on the race.
For the first time since its 1982 return, the Las Vegas Grand Prix emerged as one of the most eagerly awaited events on the 2023 schedule.
Despite the event’s chaotic build-up, Verstappen called it a “99 percent show and 1 percent sporting event,” and there was no shortage of controversy surrounding it.
Nevertheless, Hamilton has responded to his rival’s remarks, saying F1 has done a “amazing job” in Vegas and continuously brings in more money for the sport.
Hamilton: F1 is captivating the US
“I hear there are a lot of people complaining about the direction that Stefano [Domenicali] and Liberty has gone,” Hamilton said, speaking prior to the race.
“But they are doing an amazing job.
“The sport is still expanding. Even though it’s a business, there will be exciting racing here. It’s a nation that can be effectively utilized to captivate viewers.
There will be a lot of business this weekend, and everyone I know in Hollywood is coming. Even for those back home who have never been to Vegas, it will be an entertaining show. They’ll discover the fundamentals of it.”
Although he admitted that it would never fully replicate the experiences of his home race, Hamilton also talked about the significance of having another race in America.
Hamilton went on, “We needed to have at least two races in the US.” “This is one of the most famous and distinctive cities they have here, so one wasn’t enough.
“It’s definitely a big show, and it won’t ever compare to Silverstone, but maybe in time, the locals will develop a passion for the sport.”
