Brooks Koepka deletes sarcastic comment aimed at LIV Golf over schedule

LIV Golf are yet to announce the schedule for its 2024 season, and Brooks Koepka, one of the league’s team captains, has shared his frustrations about the situation

Brooks Koepka appeared to hit out at LIV Golf in a now-deleted comment airing his frustrations about the lack of a schedule for the 2024 season.

The 33-year-old captain of the “Smash” squad, Koepka, appeared to confirm on Saturday that he is still unsure of his exact schedule and location for the upcoming season. Right now, the only date on the 2024 schedule is LIV Golf Adelaide in Australia.

Following the league’s inaugural tournament in April, LIV CEO Greg Norman announced earlier this month that the league is returning to South Australia. This will take place once more on April 26, 27, and 28 in 2024, during the fourth month. But no more dates have been added to the calendar as of one week after that announcement.

That has led to Koepka taking matters into his own hands by raising the point on social media. The five-time major winner took umbrage with an Instagram post by the league asking its followers to reply to a direct message from one of its players. Six hypothetical options are available and shown in a graphic.

“Short game lesson?” inquires Phil Mickelson. Bryson DeChambeau responds, “Come and hit some bombs with me!” during this time. Talor Gooch messages, “Down for OKC Thunder game courtside?” and Cameron Smith says, “Let’s hit the putting green!” The list goes on. The message from Dustin Johnson says, “Wanna go fishing?” Lastly, Bubba Watson says, “Would you like to come feed the goats with me?”

Among the six options, Koepka is conspicuously absent. He refuses to select any of them. Rather, he remarks, “It would be nice if the DM included the schedule for next year.”

The LIV Golf League’s Instagram account still has the post, but Koepka’s comment is no longer visible. Considering LIV’s past performance, it appears that he will have to wait a little longer to find out the schedule for the league’s forthcoming season.

Less than a month before the year’s first tournament in Mayakoba, Mexico, the 2023 calendar was only announced in late January. Then, in March, there were two more tournaments held in the United States. The first one took place in Tucson, Arizona, in the middle of the month, and the second one was held in Orlando, Florida, two weeks later.

The first tournament took place in Australia after that, and a trip to Singapore was planned for five days later. There are a lot of unknowns surrounding Koepka’s schedule for the upcoming season. After his brother Chase was demoted, leaving a void in the squad, he still needs to restructure it.

And then there’s the unresolved Matt Wolff situation. Despite his captain’s ongoing animosity towards his countryman this season, the American is still a member of the “Smash” squad.

But LIV has stated that he is still a member of the team for the time being. This could still alter because Wolff could be traded during the off-season transfer window.
