Lewis Hamilton aims subtle dig at Max Verstappen after Las Vegas GP victory

Lewis Hamilton took aim at Max Verstappen after finishing seventh at the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton could not resist aiming a cheeky dig at Max Verstappen after coming home in seventh place at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. The Mercedes ace gained several positions but was unable to get himself on the podium in Sin City in spite of his best efforts, while Verstappen took victory to register his 18th win of the campaign.

Despite early worries that the race wouldn’t live up to the hype, there was plenty of action throughout the 50-lap competition. The race most definitely lived up to expectations. Verstappen, who frequently accused Formula One of prioritizing the “show” over the actual racing, was a vocal critic throughout the weekend, a viewpoint that was echoed by many fans and commentators.

In what appeared to be a barely concealed jab at his Red Bull competitor, Hamilton, however, was quick to insist that the skeptics were proven wrong.

In his post-race interview, Hamilton stated, “I think Vegas proved them wrong. There were lots of great overtaking opportunities and I think for all those who were so negative about the weekend, saying it was all about show blah blah blah.”

It happened after Verstappen, who was unfazed by the glitz and glamour of Sin City, increased his criticism of the Las Vegas Grand Prix before the race began. He expressed his contempt for the occasion with a football analogy, saying: “I think Monaco is like the Champions League, this is National League.”

“I enjoy Vegas, but I’m not a Formula One driver. I enjoy enjoying a few drinks, dressing in red, and enjoying delicious food, but what about feelings and passion? Compared to some classic tracks, it is absent. It’s mainly about the appropriate raceways, like Spa and Monza. It’s amazing to see the fans there, and I get really excited and in love when I get in the car.
