Max Verstappen considered an ‘alien’ driver and not even racing in F1 is considered ‘more complete’

Verstappen may be the king of the F1 world, but IndyCar driver Agustin Canapino believes one of his rivals in American racing is more complete than the Red Bull star.

A motor racing star believes IndyCar champion Alex Palou is a “more complete” driver than unstoppable Formula 1 force Max Verstappen.

The Dutchman has won 13 of 16 races this season and is on track to win his third consecutive championship. He has been so dominant that his title is just a few points away, even though the 2023 season still has six full days of racing left.

His incredibly fast Red Bull car played a key role in his dominance. But even teammate Sergio Perez only accumulated a little more than half the points as Verstappen. But the Dutchman is not the only driver to outperform his rivals in the top racing series. On the other side of the Atlantic, Palou has consolidated his position at the top of IndyCar.

With five wins and 13 top-five finishes in the most competitive series, the Spaniard won the 2023 championship with 78 points. And it was his second title in three years – achieved amid legal problems with McLaren.

After racing Palou and witnessing his skills, IndyCar teammate Agustin Canapino felt he was in a league of his own. “In my opinion, Palou is special because, for me, he is the best rider in the world,” he told Fox Sports Argentina.

“If he’s not the best he’s in the top three. In my opinion, Palou is more complete than Verstappen. What Palou did in IndyCar for me is really like being an alien. But that’s it.” is a very subjective opinion.” “Verstappen is also another alien. Don’t let Verstappen supporters criticize me because I also have Verstappen in limbo but for me racing on ovals makes IndyCar drivers different Especially because ovals are absolute extremes and F1 doesn’t have that.

“That’s why, for me, a rider like Palou, who makes a difference on every type of track, in every type of discipline, makes him an alien.” It comes after former F1 chief Bernie Ecclestone called Verstappen “the best driver of all time”.

“I said Alain Prost, now I’ll say Max,” he told the Daily Mail. “It’s the biggest. He is at his best when he gets the most out of the car. He’s not joking. It goes straight into the program. On my list, he’s above Lewis Hamilton.

“Lewis is obviously super, super bright, super, super talented. Lewis understands people and gets the most out of them, while Max gets the most out of the car. He is very different from Max. When Lewis stops racing, he may enter a different world – recreational or otherwise – but that won’t be the way forward for Max. »
