Tension Builds Ahead of Monaco Grand Prix as Title Battle Intensifies
With seven rounds of the 2025 Formula 1 season complete, the Drivers’ Championship race is heating up as the Monaco Grand Prix approaches. Oscar Piastri holds a narrow 13-point lead over Lando Norris, while Max Verstappen sits just nine points behind Norris following a dominant performance at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
All eyes are on McLaren heading into the next two races of the European triple-header, as the FIA is set to implement a new technical directive aimed at regulating front wing designs. This change could potentially affect McLaren’s pace, which has been a key strength in their impressive season start.
The directive could open the door for Verstappen to close the gap in the standings, while Mercedes remains in the mix, with George Russell not far off the title contenders. Ferrari, too, will be aiming to stay competitive following Lewis Hamilton’s most promising outing in red at Imola.
Doohan Responds to Online Abuse
Jack Doohan has spoken out after a fake Instagram story, falsely attributed to his father Mick Doohan, circulated online during the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. The post, which gained traction through a parody X (formerly Twitter) account, led to harassment directed at Doohan and his family—reportedly by supporters of fellow driver Franco Colapinto.
Doohan addressed the situation directly, posting both the real and altered images with a statement: “As you can clearly see, the story circulating is entirely false. It was created by Argentine fans trying to paint me and my family in a bad light. They manipulated the original content to make it look like my father shared it, which is not true. Please stop harassing my family.”
He later clarified, “The origin isn’t Argentine, but several Argentine media outlets wrongly published the fake image, sparking the online abuse.”
