Lewis Hamilton spins out of United States GP as he issues clear two-word radio message

The United States Grand Prix got off to a terrible start for Lewis Hamilton.

The United States Grand Prix started horribly for Lewis Hamilton, who brought out an early safety car after spinning out of the race into the gravel on the third lap.

After a poor qualifying session, the seven-time world champion started far back in the pack. However, he had a fantastic start, moving up to 12th on the first lap after taking advantage of contact between Esteban Ocon and Alex Albon ahead.

Sadly for Hamilton, his success was short-lived. The legendary Brit lost the back of his W15 on lap three when he entered a corner at Turn 19, spinning into the gravel trap.

Hamilton tried to move his car by putting his foot on the ground, but it didn’t work. He apologized simply to his team over the radio: “Sorry, guys.”

This was the culmination of the seven-time world champion’s wretched Austin weekend. After limping home to sixth place in Saturday’s sprint, he was eliminated in the first qualifying round.

“We had some sort of failure from the formation lap on the front suspension in the Sprint,” Hamilton said following a forgettable Saturday. During the Sprint race, I had that. The balance became extremely challenging as a result.

“We made a few adjustments that helped us move closer to what we would have done the day before. In qualifying, the car was a nightmare. Since I won’t be moving from where I am, I should probably start in the pit lane.”
