Sergio Perez is coping with the news that his father is in the hospital following a pre-infarction in Mexico City on Sunday in addition to getting ready for the Singapore Grand Prix this weekend.
After the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the father of Sergio Perez was discovered unconscious and taken to the hospital.
Pre-infarction, or pre-heart attack, struck Antonio Pérez Garibay on Sunday while he was watching the race from Mexico City. Shortly after witnessing his son collide with Carlos Sainz in his Red Bull vehicle, Perez Garibay experienced the medical event.
Following his discovery in his home’s bathroom, Perez Garibay was taken to the hospital. A photo of the 65-year-old patient receiving treatment while lying on a hospital bed was made public by his son’s press office.
Additionally, they affirmed that Perez Garibay is still receiving care as he gets over the incident. It has also been mentioned that his condition is now stable.
“The incident occurred following his son’s impact during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, in a collision with driver Carlos Sainz,” his press office said in a statement to PlanetF1.com.
“Paramedics responded to Perez Garibay’s home in Mexico City after he was discovered unconscious in the bathroom and needed emergency medical attention. He was taken to a capital hospital and is now in stable condition and under medical observation. We appreciate your words of affection and support.
Perez Garibay is still smiling, and it seems that he is blaming his son for the collision with Sainz. The two were fighting for a podium spot when they crashed out of the competition.
He is quoted in the Mexican newspaper Medio Tiempo as saying: “Everything happened after the accident.” That might have been brought on by the accident’s shock. I’m already having my heart checked to find out why I passed out.
More information about the incident was provided in a statement his racing team, Scuderia Perez, posted on social media early on Tuesday. They honored the medical staff that worked to aid in Perez Garibay’s recovery.
“Mr. Perez Garibay is stable, but he continues to receive close monitoring in intensive care, with special attention given to his heart and other critical organs. His condition is still being closely watched, according to the responsible specialists,” they stated.
“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Mexican Red Cross for their prompt intervention, which was essential to preserving the life of Mr. Antonio Perez Garibay and his entire team.
“We also want to express our gratitude and admiration to the medical staff and physicians who are attending to him at a Mexico City hospital. Medical reports state that Mr. Pérez Garibay will stay in the hospital for a few more days in order to complete his recuperation. We appreciate everyone’s help and unity during this difficult time. Regards, sincerely. Team Antonio Perez Garibay.
