Following his collision with Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton responded.
After their collision at the Hungarian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton talked back about his “hair-raising” altercation with Max Verstappen. After his Mercedes was clipped by his rival during an attempt to overtake, the British driver managed to finish third behind Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris of McLaren.
The Red Bull car was duly sent flying and onto the gravel at the other end of the track, but Hamilton managed to continue and secure a podium finish.
After the race, Hamilton remarked, “Obviously, the close battle we had at the end was a bit hair raising, but that’s motor racing.” It’s not a scary thing. You just chuckle to yourself when you see how quickly they closed the gap in some areas since you can’t accomplish that.”
Verstappen will now have to wait and see if the race stewards look into the incident, which might cost him his place in the end. Hamilton, though, seemed to imply that the contact was only a result of racing competition.
“He was able to brake much later than me, but he sent it up the inside,” he continued. “I saw him coming from a long way back.” “He clipped the wheel and moved over while I remained motionless. I believe a racing mishap.”
The 39-year-old was initially accused by Verstappen of moving while braking over team radio. He was angry and asked, “So you can just drive people off the track then?” when he noticed that the team engineers were uninterested in the claim.
