Just a few hours after withdrawing from the Charles Schwab Challenge on Saturday, May 25, golf star Grayson Murray passed away at the age of 30, according to TMZ.
The heartbreaking news shocked the golf community, and Christiana Ritchie received many well wishes on social media. According to Golf Monthly, Murray and Ritchie lived in Jupiter, Florida, when they first got together in 2021. In December 2023, he made a proposal.
“Easiest decision of my life,” Murray wrote on their engagement in a since-deleted Instagram post. “Baby, I adore you so much. I am so excited to be with you for the rest of my life. God is very magnificent.
Murray won the Sony Open in January and gushed about his soon-to-be wife. Murray disclosed to reporters that he had been sober for more than eight months. “I now have a gorgeous fiancée who I adore and who is incredibly supportive of me.” He also acknowledged his parents and caddie.
When I’m out here inside the ropes and everyone in my circle is rooting for me, it just makes everything so much easier. And even though I still have difficult days, they are there for me at those times. However, I now feel much more at ease within those boundaries.
In the spring of 2024, Murray and Ritchie planned to tie the knot in North Carolina, close to the golfer’s family’s hometown.
Grayson Murray and Christiana Ritchie Shared a Love of Golf and Religion
Ritchie maintains a private Instagram profile, but after his victory on the PGA Tour at the Waialae Country Club in Hawaii, Murray talked candidly about their relationship.
The passionate golfer Ritchie first connected with Murray at the 2021 American Express event held in Palm Springs, California. Their shared passion for the sport and religion helped the couple get along.
“Yes, we did say a prayer,” Murray remarked following his triumph at the 2024 Sony Open. “We prayed that the good Lord was watching over us and that the result would not change our lives in any way, no matter what.
“I believe I put that area of my life on the back burner for a while. Since meeting my fiancée, our lives have somewhat changed; she has given her life to Christ, and I have given my life to Him as well. In our relationship going forward, that will come first.
