Reports have circulated that there is a rift between Red Bull team principal Christian Horner and Dutch driver Max Verstappen over the past week.
Christian Horner, the principal of the Red Bull team, has refuted rumors that he has a falling out with Max Verstappen and his family following the revelation of an alleged indiscretion against him. As a result, there is uncertainty about the CEO’s future, but Horner maintains that he has no plans to leave his team.
Red Bull continues to investigate Horner’s denial of the charge made against him. He reportedly spoke with an outside investigator for eight hours last week to present his side of the story, and he is currently working to help his side prepare for the start of the 2024 season.
Since Horner’s accusation became public, there has been much conjecture. Rumors have been circulating that the 50-year-old and important members of the Red Bull setup, such as Verstappen and his group, are at odds.
In response to those allegations, Horner has now said to Sky Sports, “No, not at all. A few days ago, Jos and Max and I visited Silverstone. Max is totally committed to his work. He’s been really helpful.
Horner has now responded to those claims, telling Sky Sports: “No not at all. I was with Jos and Max at Silverstone a couple of days ago. Max is very focused on his job. He’s been very supportive and I’m looking forward to the season ahead with him.”
Verstappen also gave a response when Red Bull unveiled their newest vehicle. The 26-year-old clarified, saying, “I can tell you that it’s the same as always. To me, Christian is always there—I’m not sure who enjoys writing these things.”
Verstappen said, “From my side, I am very focused on my own performance to get ready, to be fit, to be ready to drive the car, to be discussing things with the engineers, what you want to do,” when asked if he thought Horner’s investigation was a distraction as we approached the new calendar.
Furthermore, Formula 1 is not my only life. Outside of my scheduled training, I try not to think about Formula One too much when I’m at home. A lot of things, including my future goals and the virtual aspects of the projects I’m working on, are also ongoing in the background for me. I have enough work to do at home.”
When campaign preparations heat up over the next few weeks, Horner will be watching closely to make sure his investigation does not become a diversion. Pre-season testing in Bahrain kicks off the calendar next week, and the British player has confirmed he will be there.
