According to a report, Tyrrell Hatton is worried that if he joins LIV Golf instead of the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, he won’t be able to finish in the top 50 of the OWGR.
Although Tyrrell Hatton has agreed to terms with LIV, his move is reportedly being delayed because he has a contract with Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s indoor golf league.
Hatton, 32, acknowledged at the Dubai Desert Classic that he had been contacted by LIV Golf.
His answer to the question of whether he would consider joining the breakaway backed by Saudi Arabia differed from that of Englishman Tommy Fleetwood.
Hatton seemed more receptive to the idea of leaving the establishment, even though Fleetwood reiterated that he told LIV the answer was a resounding no.
When asked if he was happy working on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, he said, “As of right now, yeah.”
Hatton was hesitant to sign with LIV, according to Telegraph Sport, because he was worried he wouldn’t finish in the top 50 in the OWGR and would no longer be eligible to compete in golf’s four major championships.
Hatton is currently ranked No. 16 in the world, but other golfers who have made the jump have shown us that their decline in the OWGR has been swift and unrelenting.
For instance, two years ago, when he joined the breakaway, Bryson DeChambeau was ranked in the top ten, but he is currently 164th in the world.
Hatton also has a contract with TGL, the proposed indoor golf league that TMRW Sports, owned by Woods and McIlroy, is creating.
The Florida arena’s damage forced a 2025 launch date for TGL.
The man from England plays for McIlroy’s Boston Common Golf team. Keegan Bradley and Adam Scott are also on the team.
As the Independent reports, Hatton will officially join Jon Rahm’s squad as a LIV player after the contractual dispute is settled.
Hatton’s details are still current as of this writing on the TGL website.
Rahm’s player profile was removed a few days prior to his official announcement as a LIV player.
There have been rumors circulating that Anthony Kim is preparing to make a comeback to men’s professional golf.
At age 26, Kim vanished from the game after making her last swing on the PGA Tour in 2012.
Although it is known that he prematurely ended his career by cashing in on an insurance policy, he feels that the time is right for him to make a comeback.
If this is the case, it’s unclear where Kim ends up. It makes sense that LIV Golf and the PGA Tour would be drawn to him.
