Former Nike ambassador Jason Day has found a new home at Malbon Golf, adding weight to the rumours Tiger Woods could be the swoosh.
Jason Day appears to have added legitimacy to the claims there is tension between Nike and Tiger Woods.
With his professional debut in 1997, Woods has become a household name associated with the swoosh.
However, there were rumors that the 48-year-old was quitting the massive sports company over the Christmas break.
That came after NLU revealed that Nike was considering terminating their relationship with the 15-time major champion golfer and closing their entire golf division.
As Woods competed in the 2023 PNC Championship with his teenage son Charlie, he was naturally questioned about this.
The reporter who dared to ask the question would receive the same, possibly grumpy five words in response from the big cat.
He firmly stated, “I’m still wearing their product.”
Day, in addition to Woods, has served as one of Nike’s elite brand ambassadors.
Other well-known golfers like Rory McIlroy and LPGA Tour player Nelly Korda are sponsored by Nike.
However, the Australian has now confirmed that, after seven long years, he has severed his relationship with Nike, ahead of The Sentry at Kapalua.
Day has now settled into Malbon Golf as his new home.
By the way, how big are those sleeves?
Day will be the company’s first PGA Tour athlete to receive sponsorship.
Golfweek reported that Nike was paying Day $10 million a year. According to reports, he signed a $100 million deal with the company in 2016.
