Lewis Hamilton has fit into Mercedes’ late-season lineup exceptionally well, according to Sky Sports pundit David Croft.
After ten years, Mike Elliott is leaving the Brackley-based team. Mercedes has reorganized, with James Allison—who was largely responsible for their success in the late 2010s—back at the top of the standings.
Lewis Hamilton, who is aware that Mercedes’ issues, which have begun to improve, may now begin to go away, was always going to be pleased by this.
Mercedes more confident
Regarding the Mercedes, Croft remarked, “It’s not so much a car that can catch Red Bull.” It’s a trust that the path is correct and that the technical department—chassis and aero—is completely coordinated and cooperating with one another.
“I believe that James Allison’s return and increased interest, following his slight departure at the beginning of the season, along with his replacement of Mike Elliott as technical director prior to his departure, has been well received by Lewis Hamilton.
“It just feels like the team has a better understanding of where they went wrong and how they’re going to fix it.”
The Brit is still embroiled in a close fight for second place in the world championship with Sergio Perez.
A further floor upgrade at the Brazilian Grand Prix should aid Mercedes’ hopes, as Hamilton bids to win his first Formula 1 race in nearly two years.
