Sergio Perez comments on announcing retirement at Mexican GP

Red Bull’s Sergio Perez has dismissed rumors about his future, as speculation mounts that he could be about to lose his seat.

Red Bull Racing driver Sergio Perez has strongly denied recent rumors that he is set to announce his retirement from Formula 1 at the Mexican Grand Prix.

The six-time Grand Prix winner remains committed to the sport, saying he has a contract for the 2024 season and has ambitions to continue his Formula 1 career for at least three to four years again.

This speculation about Perez’s possible retirement arose after statements made on Reddit, where a user claimed to have inside information from a representative of Escuderia Telmex.

According to sources, Red Bull informed Perez during the Japanese Grand Prix weekend that he would not be retained for the 2024 season, effectively terminating his current contract.

The meeting between Pérez and his team therefore concluded that it was time to end his Formula 1 career, with the announcement scheduled for the weekend of the Mexican Grand Prix.

Responding to these rumours, Sergio Pérez emphasized his continued commitment to Formula 1 and clarified his contract status, stating: “At the moment, I have a contract for next year and what It’s important to have a good year.

“I’m motivated to continue and I want to stay for a few more years because I believe I still have a lot to offer in Formula 1.

“I want to stay in F1 for at least three or four more years. years.”
Perez’s determination to stay in competition is in line with his goal of contributing to Formula 1 over the long term.
