Koepka’s brother among four players relegated from LIV

Brooks Koepka received $8 million on Sunday for winning LIV Jeddah in the playoffs and finishing third in the season-long points race.

However, it was not a good day for Koepka’s younger brother.

Chase Koepka not only finished last out of 48 players, but also finished 48th in points, a position that would have relegated him to Jed Morgan, James Piot and Sihwan Kim. The younger Koepka has just one top-25 finish in 13 starts this season, collecting one point.

“I know he works hard,” Brooks Koepka said Saturday. “I know he tried. We trained together quite a bit. To be honest, he struggled a little bit. I’ve been there. We’ve all been there. Every golfer has done it. That’s part of it. Look at him, he was playing a little round of golf 16 months ago. I don’t think the last year and a half has been too bad for him.”

Matt Wolff, Pat Perez, Charl Schwartzel and Graeme McDowell are among the players who have finished in LIV’s open field (Nos. 25-44) and are at risk of being traded or released by their teams. LIV said earlier this year that it expected four to eight players from that group to be off the 2024 roster.

Andy Ogletree is leading the Asian Tour International Series merit list with three events remaining. The silver winner will earn a spot on LIV in 2024, as will the top three players in LIV’s 72-hole qualifying event scheduled for next month.

Ogletree has three LIV starts this season, highlighted by a sixth-place finish at the Washington D.C. event.
