Perez made a strange request to Red Bull to overcome its woes

The Mexican hopes to be active next season.

Sergio Perez has asked Red Bull to keep changes to next season’s machinery to a minimum throughout the year after a nightmare run of form.

The Mexican has started the campaign well with two wins in the first four Grands Prix, as well as the Azerbaijan Sprint Cup.

This has led to rumors of an internal Red Bull battle for the Drivers’ title, with Max Verstappen having won the previous two championships.

But the Dutchman’s progression from ninth to victory at the Miami Grand Prix sparked a disastrous run of form for Perez, including running from Monaco to Hungary without appearing in Q3 despite the RB19 being dominate your opponents. Perez has struggled in the last three races, scoring just one point between the Singapore, Japan and Qatar Grands Prix.

No upgrade?

When asked what he needs from Red Bull next season as the pressure continues to mount, Perez told Sky Sports:
“I’m thinking about a more stable base throughout the season and having a car that doesn’t change too much throughout the year.

“It also helps with more consistency. I think that’s going to be key because that’s what happened in the first few races.”

“I think when we started developing the car, I felt the car was moving away from me.

“I have to keep finding balance, making compromises here and there. We keep additional details internal to the team.

“That’s something we all know and hopefully next year it will be a different story.”
