Red Bull issue Max Verstappen demand to Sergio Perez

Sergio Perez is set to get help from Red Bull ahead of his home race, as the Mexican hopes to recover.

Red Bull Racing advisor Dr. Helmut Marko has stated that there is no criticism for Sergio Pérez within the team, despite his difficult performances this season.

Perez’s future with the team is under close scrutiny, even though he is under contract until the end of next year.

At the beginning of the year, the Mexican racer got off to an impressive start, winning two of the first four races.

However, his teammate Max Verstappen has consistently outperformed him since then and recently won his third world championship title at the Qatar Grand Prix. Perez’s mediocre performances this season include eight appearances outside of Q3 and scoring just five points in the last three races.

Marko emphasized that Red Bull Racing is taking a supportive rather than critical stance in the face of Pérez’s challenges this season.

He said: “Checo just needs to do his best without looking at Verstappen.

“We’re trying to help him do that.”

“You see, there is no criticism from the team, only help. Maybe it will work.

Upcoming events on the Formula 1 schedule include the United States and Mexican Grands Prix, the latter being Pérez’s home race.

However, Marko noted that the upcoming race in the United States, which will also host another F1 Sprint weekend, may not be beneficial to Pérez’s bid to improve his form.

“That doesn’t make it any easier for him,” Marko commented, referring to Perez’s upcoming home race.

He also expressed concerns about the additional sprint race in the US, saying: “It makes it even more difficult for him because he always needs time to get up to speed.

“I hope Austin is half right and then it will be back in Mexico.”
