Former F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone admits £400 million fraud, pleads guilty

Former F1 superstar Bernie Ecclestone has pleaded guilty to fraud after failing to declare £400m of overseas assets.

The 92-year-old admitted the charges when he appeared at Southwark Crown Court on Thursday morning.

Ecclestone, who was involved in F1 from the late 1970s until January 2017, is accused of hiding more than £400m from the government in a trust fund in Singapore.

He previously denied the charges last August and was charged with one count of fraud by false representation last October.

Ecclestone, who was wearing a dark gray suit and gray tie, said: “I pleaded guilty” at Southwark Crown Court.
