Lewis Hamilton flips out as medical delegate sent to check on him after Singapore GP due to

Following a Singapore GP visit, Lewis Hamilton received medical attention for “borderline heatstroke.”

After exiting the cockpit in Singapore, Lewis Hamilton was in a sorry state of affairs.

Toto Wolff, the team principal, stated that George Russell and Lewis Hamilton were experiencing “borderline heatstroke” following the Singapore Grand Prix. The Mercedes pair did not show up for the Marina Bay Street Circuit’s post-race press conferences.

With cockpit temperatures as high as fifty degrees and drivers losing up to four kilograms of liquid body weight, the Singapore Grand Prix is considered one of the hardest races of the year.

After their outing in Marina Bay, Hamilton and Russell were deemed too ill to speak to the media, but the harsh conditions on Sunday overcame them. “Unfortunately, neither George nor Lewis will be attending the media pen this evening as they recover from the exertions from this evening’s race,” Mercedes said in a statement following the race.

Later, team principal Wolff provided additional clarification, providing an understanding of the severe difficulties his drivers were encountering. He stated, “They had water, but they didn’t feel well—borderline heatstroke or something like that.”

“They would not have been permitted to visit the [press] enclosure. There was no animosity or frustration. All we had to do was have the doctors accompany them. However, they’re all fine.

Wolff did not overstate his claims. Following the Singapore Grand Prix, video from the Mercedes cockpit surfaced, displaying Russell stumbling through Parc Ferme following his exit from the vehicle. The British man appeared to be very dehydrated and exhausted, which is concerning.

Sadly, Mercedes’ weekend in the sweltering heat of Singapore was one to forget. After starting the Grand Prix from a strong P3 grid position and losing three positions to Oscar Piastri, Russell, and Charles Leclerc as a result of an unfavorable strategy, Hamilton was frustrated at the end of the race.

Wolff even apologized to the seven-time world champion over the radio. “Yes, Lewis, I apologize,” he said following the flag of truce. “Obviously, we misread the race, but it wouldn’t have mattered because we gave you a car that wasn’t good enough here. We simply moved slowly today.”

Russell’s afternoon was only slightly better as he finished where he had begun, but the 26-year-old was still more than a minute behind the winner of the race and polesitter Lando Norris.

This disparity demonstrates how far the Silver Arrows must progress before they can begin the 2025 season as favorites to win the Drivers’ Championship or the Constructors’ Championship. Mercedes won their third Grand Prix in as many races just four ago, but following that successful run, they fell back down the standings.
