After finishing in second place in Singapore, Max Verstappen made some very serious threats.
According to Max Verstappen, his long-term F1 future may depend on the FIA’s decision to penalize him for swearing in Thursday’s preference.
Verstappen, the three-time world champion, has previously expressed his internal debate regarding his future in the sport. After the FIA intervened to censure his colorful language in Singapore, Verstappen spoke about the subject once more.
Verstappen became enraged, as did some of his Formula One rivals, after he was given an order to finish some “work of public interest” after speaking with the stewards.
Verstappen responded by staging a protest during the post-qualifying press conference and declining to answer questions from the media in the FIA’s official presser in favor of speaking with them outside in the paddock.
He took it a step further on Sunday after the race. “Oh, definitely,” he replied. “These kinds of things do affect my future, for sure.
“You have to deal with these kinds of ridiculous things, or you can’t be yourself. I believe that at this point in my career, you shouldn’t have to deal with this constantly. It wears you out.
Naturally, achieving success and winning races is fantastic, but after all of that, all you really want is to enjoy yourself.
Naturally, everyone is exerting maximum effort. Even those at the back of the grid are involved in this battle. However, in my opinion, dealing with all these absurd things is just another reason to [quit] playing the sport.”
