Max Verstappen’s collision with Lando Norris during Sunday’s Austria Grand Prix left the McLaren driver enraged, and as a result, he changed his usual travel schedule.
As their rivalry deepened after the Austrian Grand Prix crash, Lando Norris abandoned their customary plane trip together with Max Verstappen.
With seven laps remaining in Sunday’s race, the two got into a fight when Norris tried to pass Verstappen, the leader, at Turn 3. To protect his position, though, the Red Bull athlete moved to the left and made contact with Norris’ McLaren.
Due to the contact, both cars sustained rear-wheel punctures, disqualifying Norris from the race and sending Verstappen tumbling to fifth position. In addition, the Dutchman received a 10-second penalty for starting the collision.
Then, in their post-race interviews and on team radio, they sparred, with Verstappen calling his penalty “ridiculous.” Now, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has disclosed that the intensity of their argument has increased.
Normally, the two drivers travel to races in the same private jet. However, Marko has acknowledged that following their collision on Sunday, Norris and Verstappen decided to fly separately.
Marko told OE24, “Norris’s behavior on the radio was pathetic.” However, incidents like that do occur, and even though Norris was probably overreacting, I would chalk it up to a racing mishap.

The suggestion by Norris that Max should apologize is not very beneficial. However, they will get together to discuss things. Normally they fly together, but on this particular trip they were going apart. Thus, Max’s return flight was uneventful.
After the race on Sunday, Norris lost all patience with Verstappen and blamed him for their collision. The British celebrity acknowledged that if the Dutchman resisted, he would no longer respect him.
“To be honest, I’m disappointed. Nothing more. I would not say that it was ultimately a strong, fair battle, but that was not what I was hoping for. It was difficult to accept. I felt like I performed well and the race was error-free from my end, but I was eliminated,” Norris remarked.
There is a rule that states you cannot brake in response to another vehicle. Three times out of three, that’s exactly what he did. He just ran into me the third time, and the first two times I was able to avoid it and not lock up and run into him.
There was nothing more I could do because he had destroyed both his own and my race. It wasn’t my fault; I did my best, and it was good enough, but it was ruined. I have no power to enforce the rules if they are broken.
“I just need to carry out my duties, which include driving quickly and completing the task at hand, which was easily sufficient to win today. I will simply continue doing what I am doing. I’m performing admirably. Today I was disappointed.
“It depends upon his remarks. I will no longer respect him if he claims he did nothing wrong. He was being a little careless and foolish by bumping into me. It’s still difficult to accept because I was trying to be fair and he wasn’t, even though he was going for the win.”
