Scottie Scheffler brutally mocked by PGA Tour stars in group chat after arrest

When Scottie Scheffler was arrested prior to the PGA Championship’s second round, it became the talk of the sports world, and his peers aren’t letting him forget it.

Xander Schauffele acknowledged that after Scottie Scheffler’s shocking arrest at the PGA Championship, a number of PGA Tour celebrities made fun of him.

Remarkably, Scheffler was arrested earlier this month before he teed off for his second round at the PGA Championship. He hustled to get to his tee time and shot 66, but on Saturday, Schauffele won his first major title and he faded from contention with a 73.

This week, Schauffele—who is friends with Scheffler—explained his interpretation of the incredible turn of events that transpired at Valhalla on GOLF Subpar. The other players in the field naturally chose to make light of the two-time Masters victor.

Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz were informed by Schauffele that “the only things he hurts is a golf ball and other competitors’ feelings most of the time.” However, that is the exact amount of harm that Scottie Scheffler is able to cause. He’s a good guy overall. I believed it to be a joke.

Along with Scheffler, physio Marnus Marais, and other celebrities like Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas, Schauffele is in a group chat. As soon as the world No. 1 was announced, the group started making jokes about what had happened.

“It was enjoyable to poke,” Schauffele said. It wasn’t intended to be hurtful. It was enjoyable. After the mug shot was posted, the group chat’s name was changed, and someone said something like, “Please make it tomorrow, Scottie.”

“We desired a state of calmness. And Scottie is so laid back with us that even if someone at our table makes fun of him, he doesn’t mind,” Schauffele remarked. But we kind of look at him like, ‘You can’t say that,’ if someone else makes fun of him.

On May 17, Scheffler was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disobeying traffic signals from an officer directing traffic. He also faced charges for second-degree assault of a police officer. Following the incident before the PGA Championship’s second round, Scheffler has denied the charges. June 3rd is his arraignment date.

Regarding the arrest, Scheffler stated: “The officer who brought me to the jail was excellent; he was very kind.” We had a pleasant conversation in the car, which somewhat eased my anxiety. I asked him, “Can you just come hang out with me for a few minutes so I can calm down?” while I was waiting to enter.

“This senior police officer asked me, “Do you want full experience today?,” as he observed me taking my fingerprints. “I don’t know how to answer that,” I said to him as I looked at him. “Come on, man, do you want a sandwich?” he exclaimed. Sure, I’ll have a sandwich,’ I said. I haven’t had my breakfast yet. They were quite considerate.
