LIV Golf star ‘hurt’ by behind-closed-doors Justin Thomas dig exposed on Netflix

Even though Justin Thomas’ cruel joke about LIV Golf star Mito Pereira was said behind closed doors at the PGA Championship the previous year, Netflix picked it up: Complete swing cameras

At the US PGA Champions’ dinner, Justin Thomas couldn’t help but make a playful jab at LIV Golf star Mito Pereira. The Chilean eventually saw it, thanks to Netflix’s Full Swing.

During the 2023 Champions’ dinner, which brought together all of the previous champions on the eve of the tournament, the video was captured by the Netflix cameras. Last year, it was the turn of 2022 champion Thomas, who is in charge of the menu and hosts the evening.

The American got up to raise a toast and took a jab at Pereira, the runner-up from the year before. Pereira was leading Thomas going into the last hole, but Pereira made a disastrous bogey to miss the play-off, which saw Thomas win over Will Zalatoris.

“I personally want to have a cheers to Mito Pereira because this would not happen without him,” Thomas joked during his toast, to the other champions’ boisterous laughter.

However, Pereira himself expressed his displeasure with the joke, stating he only became aware of it after watching it on Netflix.

Pereira said, “It was not very fun for me or I think for anybody,” in an interview with Barstool Sports. I’ve looked at Instagram, and he doesn’t seem to be receiving much love there. It’s not like I’m going to go talk to him because we’re not that close. It was slightly painful, but not very, to confront him and make a statement.

You get a small amount of fire from it. I would really like to be in that position to defeat him if that were to happen again.”

Thomas will not compete in this weekend’s Texas Open on the PGA Tour in order to conserve his energy for next week’s Masters. Pereira will next be seen in action at this week’s LIV Golf Miami event.

After splitting with Jim “Bones” Mackay, the two-time major champion will, nevertheless, arrive in Augusta with a brand-new caddy. Three years after they began working together, Thomas announced earlier this week that he and Mackay were no longer together.
