Jon Rahm and Phil Mickelson crack up reporters with response to Rory McIlroy

Regarding Rory McIlroy’s most recent remarks regarding the split between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, Jon Rahm and Phil Mickelson have shared their opinions.

After chuckling, Phil Mickelson let Jon Rahm answer a reporter’s query regarding Rory McIlroy’s most recent remarks.

Before teeing off at the Valero Texas Open, McIlroy stated that the gap at the top of the men’s game could not last.

The Northern Irishman implied that viewers are now “fatigued” with the drama by pointing out the declining viewing numbers.

Since the arrival of LIV Golf in June 2022, Mickelson and McIlroy have a history of exchanging jabs.

At their ‘feud’s peak, Mickelson implied that McIlroy was not something any LIV team would want. He said, “They’d have to deal with all his BS.”

McIlroy, for his part, called Mickelson’s infamous remarks about “obnoxious greed” “selfish, egotistical, and ignorant.”

A later video of him exclaiming, “F— you, Phil!” came from when he was getting a massage ahead of the 2022 Tour Championship.

When April 2024 arrives, McIlroy’s perspective on LIV has greatly softened.

Mickelson is pleased with the shift in perspective.

When McIlroy acknowledged at the beginning of the year that he was far too critical of the golfers who joined LIV, Mickelson responded, “It’s time for me and others to let go of our hostilities and work towards a positive future.”

Having said that, Lefty chose to give the mic to Rahm when he was questioned about McIlroy’s most recent ideas prior to LIV Golf Miami.

“Rory said yesterday he doesn’t think golf in its current state is sustainable,” a reporter posed to Mickelson and Rahm. Do you concur with him and believe that reuniting the circuits is necessary?

Mickelson turned to Rahm after pausing and said, “Go ahead, Jon.”

Rahm concurred with McIlroy and clarified, saying, “I respond the same way each time I receive a question like this. I believe that both are appropriate.

That’s all there is to it. A little more variety doesn’t really hurt anyone, and I believe we have the chance to create an even better product for the game’s fans and spectators.

“So, I believe that if everything is done right, we can have a much better product that can elevate golf to a new level globally, and I’m hoping that’s what happens in the end.”

In the end, Mickelson stated, he is unsure of how the story will pan out.

Mickelson stated, “I’m putting my trust in Yasir,” referring to Yasir Al-Rumayyan, the mastermind of LIV.

However, he continued, “I think it will be in a much better place eventually when it gets worked out, where we can bring the best players from around the world and it will open up more opportunities for manufacturing, course design, and for players to get inspired and start playing the game from different parts of the world.” It will be in a much better place, in my opinion.

“But when all is said and done, things will be much brighter because we are currently in the middle of the process, which is the disruption phase. It’s difficult, though, as we work through it. However, we’ll succeed.”

When asked about Rory’s claim that golf isn’t sustainable in its current form, Jon Rahm and Phil Mickelson responded. ✇️ https://twitter.com/pf7iLaq02k
