Anthony Kim posted a second straight round of 76 to cap off his wild LIV Golf debut. However, he won’t come in last!
At LIV Golf Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, Anthony Kim’s LIV Golf debut took a turn for the worse when he shot 76 in the second round.
Kim, 38, was revealed as LIV’s newest addition earlier this week after missing 12 years due to injury.
The commonly accepted theory is that, after battling injuries, Kim profited from a $15–20 million insurance policy.
That would not have been valid if he had continued on the PGA Tour. There have also been rumors that he didn’t love life on tour.
Prior to making his LIV Golf debut this week, Kim stated, “I’m focused on golf right now, but I will tell my story when the time is right.”
The former US Ryder Cup player and three-time PGA Tour winner is granted an exemption to compete in all of the remaining LIV events this year. All he’ll have is no team.
Anthony Kim is still having trouble with his LIV Golf debut.
Kim went back to Royal Greens Golf & Country Club on Saturday and shot exactly the same score, even though he had admitted he was only looking at the positives from his opening round 76.
Kim began on the 15th hole and, once again, stumbled out of the gate, finishing his first four holes five strokes over par.
On the seventeenth, his ball bolted into the desert and tumbled down a cart path.
If his ball hadn’t bounced out of the water on the eighteenth, things might have gotten even worse.
Anthony Kim is 4 over through 3 holes on LIV today and is clearly having a hard time. With his third shot bouncing out of the water, he just had the greatest break of his life on hole 18. It will be difficult for him to surpass 80 today.
Kim took the lead with a birdie on the par-4 first, but on the par-3 third, she gave back two more shots with a double.
At least Kim has something to be happy about—to his credit, he parred the final 11 holes to the house.
Kim needed to be reminded at one point in the round to drop his ball from knee height rather than shoulder height when he needed a casual water break.
The 2019 regulation went into force.
On his final hole, Kim holed a 10-footer for par and, understandably, looked disappointed as he pulled the ball out of the cup.

But he won’t end the week in last place because Matt Wolff had to pull out of the competition.
With nine more holes to go than the next player, Ian Poulter, Kim will most likely finish in 53rd place out of 54.
He will receive $50,000 for placing 53rd.
Joaquin Niemann, who is playing well, is leading the field at the top by two shots at 13-under par.
Niemann, the captain of Torque GC, is attempting to win his second LIV event in three starts this season. He recently received a special invitation to participate in The Masters in April.
At 11-under par, Charl Schwartzel, the former Masters champion, is one shot ahead of his fellow countryman and Stinger GC teammate Louis Oosthuizen as well as Jason Kokrak of Smash GC.
Overnight leaders Jon Rahm and Adrian Meronk are a further shot adrift after carding rounds of 69.
As it stands, Stinger GC are well clear by seven shots on the team leaderboard.
But with all four scores counting in Sunday’s final round, much can change and fast.
