Regarding the ongoing investigation into Red Bull team principal Christian Horner, Toto Wolff has shared his opinions.
“Transparency and rigor” are required, according to Toto Wolff, from the independent inquiry into Red Bull team principal Christian Horner. The 50-year-old is being accused by an unidentified coworker of acting inappropriately.
Following a report from the Dutch news outlet De Telegraaf, Horner’s investigation became public earlier this month. Red Bull then moved to validate their internal investigation into the team principal.
In spite of the ongoing investigation, Horner continues to hold his position. The long-serving executive was present at the Milton Keynes RB20 car launch event as well as on the pit wall during pre-season testing at the Sakhir International Circuit in Bahrain.
Wolff, the CEO of Mercedes, has now shared his opinions about the current probe. Speaking in Bahrain, he stated: “I think we are holding ourselves to these standards with Formula One and the work the teams do. We stand for inclusion, equality, fairness, and diversity, and that goes beyond just talking about it.
“We are role models and a major global sports platform, ranking among the most significant in the world.
Nevertheless, a great deal of conjecture has been circulating in recent weeks. There is a lot going on, speculation that we have heard about, and what I believe is crucial at that point for a rigorous process.
“I believe we should examine what the results indicate, what they mean for Formula One, and how we can draw lessons from this, as Red Bull has initiated an independent investigation. If this is carried out properly, transparently, and rigorously, then that’s something we should look at.
“Because we would rather discuss the sport and racing cars than these kinds of extremely important subjects that are more suited for team discussions. It’s a problem, or a phenomenon, that affects everyone who works in Formula One as well as everyone else.”
Before the Red Bull camp’s pre-season testing in Bahrain, Horner has made some unwanted noise due to rumors about his Formula One future, but he is adamant that he is staying at Milton Keynes.
At the RB20 launch, he made the following statement to a small group of media, including Express Sport: “Look, I’m totally committed to this team. As you’ve seen in some of the previous videos, I’ve been here from the start and built this team. However, there have been highs and lows along the way.
“Although our 113 race victories, seven driver world championships, and six constructor world championships in 19 seasons are now in the record books, what matters most is always what lies ahead. Therefore, my attention is focused on the future and how Red Bull Powertrains will run a start-up engine company.
There’s a cutting-edge technology company that will manufacture the first Red Bull track car, and as you can see, the campus is bustling with activity and investment.
