Christian Horner was placed under investigation on Monday, but the saga looks set to drag on longer than Red Bull would have hoped.
Red Bull may have to wait until after their car launch event on February 15th to learn Christian Horner’s fate. On Monday, the 50-year-old was under investigation for alleged misbehavior involving a single female employee.
The long-serving team manager’s ongoing investigation made headlines on Monday after a report detailing the existence of misconduct allegations against Horner was published by the Dutch publication De Telegraph. An AP report that included additional details after this stated that the accusations centered on his assertive management style.
Horner told De Telegraaf, “I completely deny these claims,” in response to the accusations, and a Red Bull statement affirmed that the company was treating the situation “extremely seriously” and that a “independent investigation” was in progress.
The public was then informed that Horner was to address the allegations with the relevant personnel at a hearing that was set for Friday. But it’s evident from information provided by Sky Sports News reporter Craig Slater that a decision regarding his future won’t be made right away.
Rather, it is anticipated that the investigation will continue into next week and continue until the RB20 car launch on February 15. The Times reported that the decision date might be further delayed until the Bahrain Grand Prix at the end of February, which opens the season.
Slater clarified what he knew about the chronology of events by saying, “It’s the first interview with Christian Horner; there may be a chance for a second one; I believe he is ready for that and anticipates a demanding day.”
“As far as I can tell, we’re talking about a procedure that will begin in the middle of the morning and go into the afternoon. The investigators have promised to see this through to the end.
It’s not a given that this will be finished today, despite some people believing it might be done before Thursday, February 15, when Red Bull launches. This won’t work according to a Formula One schedule as I understand it; instead, it will follow a schedule that works to find a clear and equitable resolution for all sides.
