On the back of Jon Rahm’s LIV Golf switch earlier this week, three more players have been added to the breakaway league’s roster for 2024 after the end of LIV Promotions
The most recent players to sign with LIV Golf are Kieran Vincent, Jinichiro Kozuma, and Kalle Samooja. This is in addition to Jon Rahm, the winner of the Masters, who signed with the breakaway league earlier this week.
All three of them secured a spot on the Saudi-sponsored circuit for 2024 after placing first, second, and third in LIV’s inaugural Qualifying-School competition held in Abu Dhabi. In the Middle East, Samooja emerged victorious after finishing Sunday’s final 36 holes at eight under par.
Somewhere else Following the conclusion of regulation play, Kozuma and Vincent tied with fellow contender Laurie Canter on seven-under, forcing them to earn their spots on the LIV roster via a three-man playoff. Canter was only a few inches away from joining LIV in 2024 during the first playoff match. Kozuma and Vincent had both holed out below par, so the Englishman would be guaranteed a spot on the breakaway circuit with a birdie.
The former Majesticks GC star, however, watched in agony as his birdie putt slid past the cup, guaranteeing that the three would head back to the 18th tee for another playoff hole. Ten minutes before, on the par-five last hole, Canter had come within a whisker of securing a LIV place.
This made it possible for Vincent and Kozuma to enter other places. With a birdie on his last hole, the former went on to clinch his spot in style, and the latter confirmed his playing privileges through 2024 by sinking a putt for par. He then miscuted his tee shot, sending his second into the water, which cost the Englishman dearly. Canter finished with a double bogey, sealing his fate after finding the sand with his drop from the hazard.
The Zimbabwean Vincent will compete on the LIV circuit next year alongside his brother Scott, who kept his spot after placing 22nd overall in 2023. Kozuma has also appeared twice in 2022 on the Saudi-backed series, giving him experience there as well. Naturally, Promotions winner Samooja, who will be making his LIV debut the following year, will be joining them. The majority of the Finnish national’s career has been spent competing on the DP World Tour, where he has only one victory from the Porsche European Open in 2018.
