LIV Golf fans laugh in face of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy after shock TGL update

Report: Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s new TGL is paying “actors” to participate in a new indoor golf league featuring PGA Tour players.

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s brand new TGL is looking to pay “casters” to secure seats at the SoFi Center for its inaugural season in 2025. Woods and McIlroy’s new Indoor Technology Golf League, featuring 24 PGA Tour players, will kick off on Tuesday, January 7 with a match between New York GC and The Bay GC.

TGL was founded by Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and their co-founder and CEO of TMRW Sports, Mike McCarley.

Each TGL team will play five matches, with the top four teams advancing to the TGL Playoffs, a three-match series beginning March 24.

Woods’ Jupiter Links GC and McIlroy’s Boston Common GC won’t meet until Monday, January 27.

The action takes place at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

Attendance will reach 1,500 spectators. TGL was forced to suspend operations for 12 months at the end of 2023 after the roof of its stadium collapsed.

But now that it’s finally happening, WPTV reports that the fledgling league is now looking for “enthusiastic golf spectators to help power live events” during TGL’s inaugural season. Golf “actors” will select their “roles” through auditions, and those lucky enough to make it through the process will receive free gear and cash prizes ranging from $150 to $250, according to an Instagram post from Penguin Entertainment, the third-party agency TGL hired to source talent for the upcoming tournament.

As you can imagine, this update caused quite a bit of laughter among LIV golf fans on social media, many of whom believe that the PGA Tour has copied their homework to some extent by creating a new golf league for each team.

But while paying actors doesn’t seem like the best promotion for TGL, a representative for the Crows League told WPTV that it’s standard practice for made-for-TV shows. \ “We have a small and intimate place, and, like rewards, use a seat filler to fill the location,” said WPTV Adam Freifeld.

If some readers of Golf Magic are interested in receiving a fee to participate in the TGL event at the SOFI Center, please contact the following email address-haveGuinshows.com. Tickets for many TGL events have already sold out, but some general admission tickets are still available for purchase through Ticketmaster.
