Carlos Tits was activated by Ferrari to make room for Lewis Hamilton with Charles Leclerc this year, and Eddie Jordan and Flavio Brirer think it was a bad idea
The former bosses of Formula 1 Team 1 Eddie Jordan and Flavio Brirer from the release of net criticism of Ferrari’s decision to sign Lewis Hamilton.
The champion of seven times F1 began to work as a Ferrari driver on January 1. But to secure his place in the driver’s line-up, the Italian had to say goodbye to Carlos Sainz, who had been a huge influence during his four years as Charles Leclerc’s team-mate.
And according to Jordan, that was a mistake. The former F1 team owner revealed on his podcast, “Formula for Success,” that he was not impressed with Ferrari boss John Elkann’s decision to give the go-ahead for a driver swap.
He said: “I say to John Elkann, who is the chairman of this group, what was he thinking getting rid of Carlos when he had a very happy, friendly, structured team that knew how to work together? The drivers got on well.”
“[Team principal] Fred Vasseur had a real chance to bring great success to this team. Now he has to start thinking about putting the team together, repairing it, getting new team members, the egos, everything that’s involved.”
“Lewis is very nice. I don’t know if there is anyone better than Lewis Hamilton on the grid, so I don’t think there will be any problems. » However, my thanks to John Elkann at Ferrari for approving and signing this deal. Getting rid of Carlos was absolutely suicidal. \”
And Jordan is not alone in thinking that cutting ties with Sainz was a mistake. Briatore, who last year joined his former Renault team, now called Alpine F1, as a special advisor, has also questioned the decision to part ways with the Spaniard in favour of Hamilton. “It will be strange to see Lewis at Ferrari. Of course I respect such decisions, but I also wonder if it makes sense,”
he told Sport Bild. \ “Ferrari had two top drivers in Charles Leclerc’s and Carlos Sainz. I don’t understand why they divided this wonderful pairing. “It’s not my role to judge, but if I was in a position of responsibility at Ferrari, I would not have signed Lewis.
Fundamentally, it’s good for F1 that Lewis drives for Ferrari.” And all that is good for Formula 1 is also good for me. This is certainly good for television and ratings. \ “Wait for Rayley.
Time will tell you how well he is traveling to Ferrari -making Formula 1 even more interesting. But, of course, don’t forget that Charles has the advantage of speaking in Italian with this special Italian team. \ “
