Olympic champion and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is expected to challenge for more major titles next year after becoming a two-time Masters winner at Augusta in 2024
Scottie Scheffler is expected to miss \”three to four weeks\” of golf after suffering a freak hand injury on Christmas Day.
The World No. 1 has undergone surgery after broken glass got stuck in the palm of his hand. The PGA Tour announced he will miss next week’s Sentry tournament and isn’t expected to return to play until the end of the month.
Scheffler’s injury is a concern as the PGA Tou heads into a new calendar year. The 28 -year -old 28 winners dominated the golf course in 2024 and won the player’s championship, teachers, Olympics, touring championships, and some other famous tournaments.
The PGA Tour said: “Scottie Scheffler, the world’s No. 1 ranked golfer and 2024 FedEx Cup winner, has withdrawn from The Sentry, the PGA Tour’s 2025 season opener, taking place next week, Jan. 2-5, at the Plantation Course at Kapalua, Maui, Hawaii.”
Scheffler’s manager, Blake Smith, added: “While preparing dinner on Christmas Day, Scottie suffered a puncture wound to the palm of his right hand from broken glass. Small shards of glass were lodged in his palm, requiring surgery.” “We were told he should be back to 100 percent health in three to four weeks. Unfortunately, he will have to leave Sentry.” His next planning tournament is American Express (scheduled for January 16th to 19th). \ “
In 2021, the winner of the Rider Cup with the Team USA was hardly stopped this year. He won seven PGA tour events in 2024. This includes Arnold Premier Invitational, RBC Heritage, Commemorative Tournament, Traveler’s Championship.
Scheffler also confirmed his status as the best player on the planet by defending his Hero World Challenge title earlier this month. He is expected to play in a major again in 2025 and will hope to be in top form for the Masters in April. “I feel like I’ve pretty much lived my whole life in a year,” Scheffler told reporters after winning the Tour Championship in September. “It’s been crazy… I’m exhausted now, I have no other choice. I’m just really, really tired.\”
Although Scheffler won several tournaments in 2024, many critics believe Xander Schauffele enjoyed a better season. The 31-year-old won the PGA Championship and Open Championship, thus finishing the season with more major wins in 2024 than Scheffler.
Off the course, Scheffler\’s first child Bennett was born in May. Just nine days later, he was arrested and charged ahead of the second round of the PGA Championship, but all charges were dropped. Mike Onel, a lawyer in Jefferson County, states:
