Lando Norris brands Max Verstappen ‘dangerous’ as two penalties given over furious duel

Max Verstappen and Lando Norris rekindled their feud in Mexico a week after their intense on-track altercation at the US Grand Prix, with the McLaren driver becoming enraged as his F1 title rival.

At the Mexican Grand Prix, Lando Norris raged at “dangerous” Formula 1 title rival Max Verstappen as they resumed their intense wheel-to-wheel battle.

Last week in Austin, the title contenders’ combative antics caused controversy. And they resumed their dogfighting at the Mexico City race after just a few laps of racing.

On the run to the first corner, Verstappen passed pole-sitter Carlos Sainz and took the lead following an early safety car period. However, the Ferrari quickly regained its lead, and Norris soon caught up to the Dutchman.

However, he seemed to do so once more when Norris attempted to pass him after he was accused of running the McLaren driver off the road in Texas last Sunday. Charles Leclerc was able to pass both of them after they both veered off course while battling for position a few seconds later.

Verstappen’s behavior on the track again infuriated Norris, who vented his frustrations on the radio. He raged, “This guy is dangerous.” “Dude, it’s the same as it was before. In a minute, I’ll be in a wall.”

Verstappen “overtaken off the track and pushed me off,” Norris continued to inform his race engineer. As soon as it was confirmed that the Red Bull racer had received a 10-second time penalty, the stewards concurred that his driving had been unfair.

That penalty was imposed for ejecting Norris, another driver, from the track. After the Brit accused him of passing outside the track limits, he was given another 10-second penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage.

Verstappen reacted coolly when the news was delivered to him, possibly anticipating the penalty, especially in light of the Austin complaints last weekend that he was not penalized for his defense of Norris. He said, “That is fine, then,” and then, “That is so silly, man.”

Both Red Bull drivers received early penalties, and Sergio Perez’s injury from qualifying far down the order in 18th place at his home race was exacerbated. He received a five-second penalty for the race start violation after the stewards determined that he had been too far ahead of his grid box.

Additionally, the Mexican sustained injuries during a duel with Liam Lawson, who is vying for a promotion from sister team VCARB in the event that Red Bull fires Perez. Due to the contact, TV cameras revealed a hole in the sidepod on the right side of his RB20.
